Video and photo documentation has always been an integral part of Colabo Innovations, which served as a mutually beneficial relationships between rider and sponsor. Colabo Innovations has previously released a standard definition video that was filmed over the past 2 years. This video has not only entertained many, but has also been used as a tool in presentations and meetings to help promote the sport which has subsequently resulted in newly endorsed races.
Colabo is now stepping up to a new standard of extreme sport video production. Together with top riders and some of the industries most fresh filmmakers, a new precedent in extreme sport filmmaking is about to be set.
This collaboration guarantees the sport to be captured in a just way that represents the intensity of downhill speedboarding, the skill of other longboard events, and the sport as a lifestyle. We are at the helm of a new frontier in the progression of longboarding and the release of the 2008 Colabo Video Project is highly anticipated. |

The vision began when Daniel Pape, founder of Colabo, made a decision to put the heart of the sport above sport politics. He set out to create a dynamic team that wasn’t confined to any one specific sponsor. The team now consists of 4 hand-selected riders with an acute level of skill paired with a humble attitude. What resulted from this communion is a group o five of the most dedicated and accomplished riders who ride it like its hot and thrive on each others skill and mentorship. Together they challenge each other to achieve new levels of riding.
The Colabo team has since pushing the boundaries, riding on the edge of what is possible and have received enthusiasm and praise from other professionals within the community.
To date Colabo Riders have competed in, and attained unprecedented results in more than three-dozen races. In 2007, the team received 12 podium standings in races throughout Canada and the United States and first place in The Brazil Teutonia World Speed Challenge. Two first place titles are currently held by Colabo riders, Brianne Davis, and Kevin Reimer for the 2008 Attack of Danger Bay.
The current unofficial world record for downhill speedboarding is clocked at a mind blowing 124km/h and is owned by Colabo rider Kevin Reimer, dubbed K-rimes. He plans to break his own record in 2008, and attain a speed of 140km/h in the Colorado Downhill Challenge, making a presence in the Guinness World Book of Records. More rider stats can be found in the rider profile section.

There is an undermining risk of injury that comes with the territory of achieving high-speed momentum downhill. Riders understand this risk and roll with it, however the possibility of injury is a reality which is partially why the sport is so visually thrilling.
As Colabo Riders constantly challenge their own skill and limitations, Colabo Innovations took rider safety as a priority. Daniel Pape teamed up with Blake Startup and formed a subsidiary company, Lid Technologies, which is now Canada’s leading edge in speedboarding helmet technology. Lid Technologies new helmet design abides by the regulations of both Olympic Ski Jumping and Downhill Ski Racing while proving to be more aerodynamic than any other helmet.
The input of rider K-Rimes was taken into account while designing the prototype to ensure rider confidence and safety. All Colabo team riders will ultimately be sponsored by Lid Technologies and receive helmets at a fraction of the price. |
